Old South Cabbage Slaw
  • 3/4cup sugar
  • 3/4cup Clover Valley Farms Herb Infused Vinegar
  • 1/2cup oil
  • 2t dry mustard
  • 1 1/2t celery seedcrushed
  • 1/2t salt
  • 1/4t pepper
  • 1 head cabbage shreddedabout 2 lbs.
  • 1 small red onionpeeled, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 green bellcoarsely chopped
  1. Combine sugar, vinegar and oil in small non-aluminum pan.
  2. Bring to a boil on medium heat, stirring occasionally. Simmer 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in dry mustard, celery seed, salt and pepper. Cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Place cabbage, onion and green pepper in very large glass bowl.
  5. Add dressing. Toss to coat vegetables.
  6. Cover. Refrigerate at least 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
  7. Drain before serving.
Recipe Notes

Salad can be made up to two days in advance and refrigerated, covered.
